Friendly trial Mudkhu to Tokha (Hotel - Mudkhu – Tolkha – back to your hotel (33 km easy ride)(4 hrs)

If you want to ride on an easy trail, Ace Holidays recommends you Mudkhu-Tokha-Biking. The Mudkhu-Tokha-Biking is easy, and Mudkhu is located 33 km from Kathmandu. Departing from the hotel, you ride along a 4 km trail. Then you ride on an easy, paved road. You then ride to Tinpipple and then on a jeep track. You also ride through the beautiful, green, rice fields. The trail of Mudkhu-Tokha-Biking runs across the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, offers a good view of this valley and familiarizes with the semi rural life of the villagers. Reaching an ancient town of Tokha, you take lunch. .

North Valley Single Track Explorer (Balaju – Mudkhu – Chaurgoan –Jhor -Tokha – Budhanilkhanta (47km – Moderate Ride)(5 hrs)

This is the best single track in the northern side of the Kathmandu Valley. This track is zigzag and passes through the rice paddies and semi rural villages. This track gives an opportunity to test the biking skills. The ride combines sharp, steep, and easy downhill. There are many variations on this track so choose the one, according to fitness and skills.

The Fabled Scar Road (Kathmandu – Kakani – Bhudanilkhanta ( 57km – Hard Ride)

It is one of the most challenging rides that include mountains view, single track and dense jungle. It starts with 27 km uphill biking to Kakani. The last 5 km of this biking is quite steep. Here, you can stop for lunch. You enter into the park and do a short and tough climb. Things get excited as you ride in a narrow track of a jungle. Coming out from the jungle, you ride to Kathmandu.

Splendid Single Tracks, Jungles and Monasteries (Thamel –Bhudanilkhanta-Staff College – Nagighompa-Heli Pad-Kapan (47 km –Technical Ride)(6 hrs)

You ride towards north and follow the main road. The ride climbs steadily to Budhanilkantha. You also ride along uphill, which is smooth, and which climbs uphill through the Shivapuri National Park. From the park, you see a great view of the valley and the Himalayas. Later, you ride along a jeep track and climb farther. Then you descend and turn from the main trail. The trail here is steep and takes you to the villages and the ‘Heli- Pad’. You can have your lunch here.

Temples, Ancient Villages and Nature (Changunayaran – Sankhu – Ghorkarna (41 KM – Moderate Ride)(6 hrs)

You come across the variations of the terrain from paved country lanes, to bumpy jeep tracks to sweet sections of single track, which makes the best cross-country ride in the Kathmandu Valley. The trail from Bhaktapur begins in the northeast part of the city and climb upwards to the ancient temple of Changunarayan; we explore the temple and stop for lunch. From here, a sweet section of single trail and jeep track takes us through the rice fields to the Newari town of Sankhu. After that, we head off to Gokarna, a beautiful and religious village, following a narrow trail before returning to Kathmandu.

Culture, Tradition and Suspension Bridges (Chapagoan – Khokana – Bungamati – Chobhar (47 km Moderate/Technical)(5 hrs)

This biking trail takes you to the Kathmandu Valley, where you experience the southern culture of the capital of Nepal. You also see the ancient villages and some good sections of single track plus a spectacular suspension bridge, across the river. You can notice the highlights of the rich culture and tradition of the Kathmandu Valley. The trail ends at Chobhar. As the ride passes through Patan and Central Kathmandu, you need to set your mind for the Nepali traffic.

Jamacho & Mudhku Tracks (42km- Moderate Ride) (6 hrs)

This ride starts from the traffic road to the National Park Gate. Then it enters the jungle, follows the winding jeep trail, 21 km and climbs to the top of the second highest ‘hill’ in the valley. You can enjoy the amazing views from the top.Now, you ride downhill, retrace the main trail for 3 km, and head right to a deep jungle. From the army check post, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Manasalu and Ganesh Himal and ride on a single-track with a fast descent. After the single track, 6 km of sweeping flat trail, you emerge out of the jungle and head off to the main road at Mudkhu, where you stop for a while and take a break. From this place, you follow a cross-country trail, a single trail, which leads you to Kathmandu.

  • If you’re bringing your own bike, you have it professionally serviced before the trip, and ask your bike shop to use dry lube on your chain, and you should also bring the following things.

  • Brake pads specific to your bike x 2 sets
  • Rear mech hanger specific to your bike x 2
  • Bottle of dry lube
  • Four inner tubes, or spare bottle of fluid
  • Tubeless tyres (two for each tyre)
  • Quick link to suit your chain
  • For 29” wheels bring extra spare tubes; these are more difficult to find in Nepal
