Kathmandu One Day Tour -

If you have a little time then Ace Holidays recommends you Kathmandu One Day Tour. This tour takes you to Pashupatinath temple, Swoyambhunath stupa, Boudhanath stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These monuments are impressive, grandeur, and spectacular.

Ason, the number one shopping destination of the Nepalese abounds with Nepalese souvenirs and is located centrally in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Durbar Square was built between the 12th and 18th centuries and is a complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples. In the past, it was the seat of the ancient Malla Kings, who ruled the Kathmandu Valley. That rule was the golden period of Nepal. Inside the Kathmandu Durbar Squares are three museums. Swoyambhunath Stupa is situated on the top of a hill and offers the bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu valley. You also see countless monkeys in and around this stupa. Similarly, there are lots of monkeys in the premises of the Boudhanath Stupa, which is 2500 years old, built in the 5th century.

Pashupatinath Temples

Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world and lies 5 km east from the heart of Kathmandu. This richly ornamented temple houses the sacred "Shiva Lingam," or the phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva. Chronicles indicate the temple's existence prior to 400 A.D. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati River beside the temple.

Bouddhanath Stupa

Bouddhanath Stupa is a World Heritage Site, lies about 6 km to the east of downtown Kathmandu, and it is the largest stupa in the valley. It looms 36 meters high and presents one of the most fascinating specimens of stupa design. Bouddhanath is also known as Khasti, or dew drops because the builders had to mix dew with mortar while building it because at that that time, Kathmandu suffered from a severe drought.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu Durbar Square is a World Heritage Site, and it is also a complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, which were built between the 12th and 18th centuries. It used to be the seat of the ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. An intriguing piece here is the 17th- century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 different languages. The Durbar Square is the social, religious, and urban focal point of Kathmandu city. There are also three museums inside the palace building.

Swoyambhunath Stupa

Swoyambhunath Stupa is also known as "The Monkey Temple." This stupa is a World Heritage Site, and it is located on the top of a hillock. This stupa is one of the holiest Buddhists stupas in Nepal and its establishment is linked with the creation of the Kathmandu Valley out of a primordial lake. Swayambhu is also known as Samhengu and the reason why Swoyambhunath is called Monkey Temple is because of the countless monkeys in its premises.

Ason is a popular market, and it is crowded, and it is located centrally in Kathmandu. It is inhabited mainly by Newar people (indigenous people of the Kathmandu Valley). Foreigners love to shop in Ason.
