Mansarovar Kailash Tour takes you to the abode of god Shiva. And he is held as the most powerful god by the Hindus. You will also reach Mansarovar lake which is the symbol of purity and which lies at an altitude of 4590 m. This lake is believed to be 90 m deep. And it is one of the highest fresh water lakes of the world listed. The Hindu scripture says a person, who drinks the water of Mansarovar lake reaches the abode of Lord Shiva after his or her death. According to the Buddhists, Queen Maya Devi conceived Lord Buddha in Mansarovar Lake. Similarly, Jains hold Mount Kailash and Manas Sarovar Lake in a high esteem, and they associate Mount Kailash with Tirthankara Lord, the first Shree Rishabhde, who attained Nirvana with his disciples in Ashtapad Mountain. To the west of Mansarovar lake is Rakshastal lake and to the north is Mount Kailash

During Mansarovar Kailash tour, you also come acros the longest rivers of Asia, such as the Indus, the Sutlej, the Brahmaputra, the Karnali, and the Ganges, as well as, see their sources. According to the Vishnu Purana, a Hindu scripture, Mt. Kailash has four faces, and each of them is made of crystal, ruby, gold, and lapis lazuli. The Vishnu Purana also says that Mount Kailash is the pillar of the world.

During Mansarovar Kailash tour, you will also reach Dzongba and en route, you pass through the Lablung-La Pass (5100 m), Milareppa Cave and Peiku lake. Eventually, you will cross the bridge built over the Bramhaputra River in Saga. At the beginning of the tour, you drive on an undulating road from Kathmandu to the border of Tibet. During the drive, you will see the wonderful view of the Himalayan ranges. As you drive further from Dhulikhel, local villages, green hilly region and the Bhote Kosi River, you will come across Zero Kilo, a small town. From here, you will drive to Kodari, the border of Nepal and Tibet.

Kathmandu to Kodari (114 km) and cross border then drive to Nyalam (3750 m ). Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Acclimatization day at Nyalam. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Drive from Nyalam to New Dongba (4, 500 m). Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 6

Drive from New Dongba to Lake Mansarovar (4, 500 m). Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 7

Lake Mansarovar parikrama by Jeep and then drive to Darchen. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 8

Start Parikrama to Deraphuk (4920 m). Stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 10

    The representative of Ace Holidays receives you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You see the representative displaying the signboard of Ace Holidays outside the airport terminal. You will be transferred to your respective hotel by the private vehicle of Ace Holidays. Before the tour, there is a meeting. In this meeting, you are requested to bring your passport, 3 passport sized photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance. Also in this meeting, you must clear all due balance, sign a legally binding trip form, and a non – liability disclaimer. In this meeting, you are also requested to ask any questions of your trip. It is also in this meeting that Ace Holidays gives you gifts, such as a Duffel Bag and a Cap. Stay overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

    Note: If you arrive late in the evening, you will be briefed about the trip by your guide at the hotel lobby.

  • Day 2Preparation and Visa Collection Day

    Today is a preparation day; you will check what you have missed in regards to items. A visa to Tibet will be issued to you and is collected, so that we are prepared for our final destination. Stay overnight in a hotel. (Breakfast Provided).

  • Day 3Drive from Kathmandu to Zhangmu and Nyalam (3750 m)

    Today, you wake up little early in the morning, take packed breakfast, and head off to Kodari border, covering a distance about 115 km. The undulating drive from Kathmandu to the border is splendid due to wonderful views of the Himalayan ranges. Driving through Dhulikhel, local villages, and green hilly region and by the Bhote Koshi River, you will stop for a tea break in Zero Kilo, a small town (40 km) and will drive further straight to Kodari. Reaching border and and after immigration formalities done in Nepal side, you will walk through the friendship bridge for Chinese Immigration and take further one & half hours switch-back drive uphill to Nyalam (3750 m.). Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 4 Acclimatization Day at Nyalam

    Today is an acclimatization day at Nyalam. It is good, if you go for a short hiking above Nyalam village. This will help us to be acclimatized with a new atmosphere. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 5 Drive from Nyalam to New Dongba (4500 m)

    After having breakfast, you drive to Dzongba, en route; you will pass through the Lablung-La Pass (5100 m.), Milareppa cave & lake Peiku then eventually, you cross the bridge built over the Bramhaputra River in Saga. Continue driving further to Dongba. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 6 Drive from New Dongba to Lake Mansarovar (Hor Chu) 4500 m

    Drive to Mansoravar Lake, which is the main highlight of your tour. You will be driving on the highest road of the world (Mayum-La; 5200 m.). Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast provided)

  • Day 7 Lake Mansarovar Parikrama by Jeep and then drive to Darchen

    In the morning after breakfast, you will drive around the Lake Manasarovar (clockwise) and then continue to Darchen. After keeping your luggage in the guesthouse, you will drive to Asthapad (optional program if pre-booked) & return to Darchen in the evening. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 8 Start from Parikrama to Deraphuk (4920 m)

    In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Yam Dwar or Sherson. From Yam Dwar, you will start trekking to Dera Phuk (north face of Kailash).

  • Day 9 Trek to Shivasthal-Gaurikunda-Zutulphuk (4820 m)

    This is the toughest trek to Kora. The journey right from the beginning starts going uphill till it reaches Dolma-La (5600 m.) then it continue descending to the valley floor, the other side of Dolma pass. The last leg of the journey is along with the riverbank, up to Zutulphuk. The highlights of the day are Shivasthal, Dolma-La and Gaurikund which are on the way.   • Day 10 End of Trek and later drive to Manasarovar

    Today, the trail is easy & flat, so you will complete the journey within 3 to 4 hours. You will be picked up at the ending point near Darchen by our Jeep, then transferred to Lake Manasarovar (east side). Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 11 Return to New Dongba.

    Have a last look at both Kailash & lake Manasarovar, then proceed for new Dongba. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 12 Return to Nyalam

    Return back to Nyalam via the same route. Stay overnight in a guesthouse. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 13Return to Kathmandu

    A few kilometers drive from Zhangmu to the Friendship Bridge over the Bhote Koshi River brings you to Immigration Control in Kodari, where you will depart with your Tibetan guide and driver, and walk across the river to meet a Nepalese guide, who will drive you to Kathmandu. After 4 hours of driving through deep valleys, you arrive in Kathmandu. Lunch will be served on the way. Stay overnight in a hotel. (Breakfast Provided)

  • Day 14 Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport for Departure

    Today is the last day of your trip because you are departing from Kathmandu. You will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to Tribhuwan International Airport on time. (Breakfast provided)

Arrival and Departure

Upon arrival in Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you see the guide holding the signboard of Ace Holidays, and your guide accompanies you from the airport to the hotel. Similarly, on the departure day, your guide accompanies you from the hotel to the airport.

Important Note: The local porters at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, may ask tip/money to you. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THEM, not even to the person, who is holding Ace Holidays' sign board. Begging is one of the harsh realities of this country, Ace Holidays believes that it should be discouraged. Ace Holidays will also not repay you if you give money to anyone at Tribhuwan International Airport.

Accommodation includes in shared rooms in Two Star Hotel in Kathmandu on bed and breakfast. In Nyalam, New Dongba, Mansarovar, Darchen, Parikrama, Zutulphuk, and Dongba the accommodation will be at basic guesthouse in twin sharing and at times even in dormitory, including breakfast

Equipment and Packing List

The following gives you a general idea of the personal items that you can bring for the tour. The personal items are of individual interests and choices. The most important fact that one should keep on mind is that one should have enough clothes to tackle the cold weather.

Ace Holidays will give you a water proof duffel bag as a gift, which you can use on the tour. You can leave your bag with the things that you do not need in your tour in Kathmandu and collect them later after the tour.

Daypack

  • Warm wool or synthetic hat that cover your ears (only if you are travelling in the cold season i.e January, February and December)
  • Goggles or sunglasses for sunbeam, dust and wind.
  • A neck warmer is another piece of gear for extra warmth if you feel you will need it and is for cold season i.e January, February and December.(optional)
  • 1 pair warm gloves (This is required if your are travelling in cold season i.e January, February and December).
  • T-shirts (2).
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket (preferable if you are travelling in rainy season from June to September.)
  • 1 pair cotton pants (loose jeans/khakis), 1 pair shorts.
  • 2 pairs lightweight long underwear/thermals (if you are traveling in winter January, February and December).

    You can rent a good sleeping bag and a down jacket from Ace Holidays. The price is USD 25 per person for each of these. Total cost is USD 50 per person for both sleeping bag and down jacket for the entire trip.

    Please note your guide will carry the first aid kit bag during the trek. However, you are recommended to bring your personal first aid kit bag.

    Ace Holidays uses twin sharing standard rooms from two to three star hotels in Kathmandu with breakfast included. In Lhasa, accommodation will be in 2-star hotels including of the breakfast. In Zhangmu, Lhatse, Xigatse, Gyantse the accommodation will be at basic guesthouse in twin sharing and at times even in dormitory, Breakfast is included during your stay in these acomodation. Note that higher star hotels in Tibet are very rare. These hotels are renowned for their hospitality and ethnic Tibetan ambience. Traveling in Tibet is a fantastic experience but sometimes you have to put up with a bit of discomfort. To enjoy this trip you need to have an adventurous spirit and the ability to adapt to minor discomforts.

    What mode of transportation do you use?

    Ace Holidays is all about providing you with local insights, lifestyle as well as adventure. Using a variety of private transport is an integral part of our Himalayan tours, enhancing the experience! We use private tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and pickups; whereas we use Van or Minibus for the overland drive across the Tibetan highland. These vehicles are extremely sturdy, spacious and reliable and they make the journey as comfortable as possible. For larger groups, we also use supported trucks to carry your luggage.

    The best time for this tour is from April to November.

    What is the weather and the temperature like during the tour?

    The weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. Nights are generally cooler than the daytime. It is also important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected! Depending on the season, the temperature could range from -15°C to 20°C.

    Does your guides speak good English?

    Yes. Ace Holidays' trek guides, tour guides, cooks, drivers, and porters speak English.

    Ace Holidays is one of the prime supporters of the social organization Sambhav Nepal Foundation. There are several on-going projects in a village called Arupokhari (Gorkha district) which you are more than welcome to visit or even volunteer at. You will be able to gain a different insight into the lives of the people in the hills and also make a difference!

    Do you handle Tibet visa and travelling permit?

    YES, we do handle all the procedures for Tibet Visa and Travelling Permit.

    No. Ace Holidays is a local agent and it would cost you significantly higher to book through Ace Holidays.

    Will it be possible to get any clothes washed/Laundry ?

    Laundry service is easily available at your hotel in Kathmandu. There will be no laundry service available in other towns. Please note that laundry service is not included in the trip price.

    Can I charge my digital camera or other equipments on my trip?

    These facilities will be available in most of the places in your hotel/guesthouse reception by paying some service charges. Remember to bring travel adapters!

    Can I use credit cards in the places I visit?

    Credit cards can only be used at some hotels. The Bank of China also accepts credit cards. ATM is not widely available. Exchanging your money to Chinese currency will be the best option for you, which can be done at the Bank of China. While changing money at the local money exchange centers, please make sure that you are accompanied by your guide and do consult him as you may easily be duped with counterfeit notes.

    How much additional money do I need per day?

    It depends on your spending habits. USD 15 to 20 a day will be enough. There are many shops in Nyalam, New Dongba, Mansarovar, Darchen, Parikrama, Zutulphuk, and Dongba that sell traditional Tibetan handicrafts.

    Do I need to tip my guide and porters? How much would that be?

    Ace Holidays has seen everything from USD 20 to USD 1000 per person for guides and porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction.

    Is the water fine to drink? Do I need to bring purifying tablets/filter?

    In most places, bottled water is readily available. If you wish to drink a normal water, you need to use purifying agent.

    What essential documents do I need to bring with me on tours?

    Here are some documents that you will need to carry with you: • Valid Passport – must be valid for up to 6 months after you return from your tour, keep a separate photocopy. • Travel insurance, keep a separate photocopy • Cash and Traveller’s Cheques, keep numbers and proof of purchase separately • Flight tickets • Emergency contact numbers for T/C’s, banks, insurance, family contacts.
