Trip with Festival Blessings

Every festival of Bhutan includes dance – colorful masked dance, so Tamshing Phala Choepa is not exceptional. The Bhutanese firmly believe that they must attend the festivals to receive blessings; even you can attend these festivals because there is no such thing as restriction, and all the people are welcomed to these festivals, including the tourists.

If you are a tourist, who is thinking about a trip in Bhutan, you can also think of adding the festival to your trip itinerary. Let me call this trip – ‘Trip with Festival Blessings.’ You can also begin this trip in any months in Bhutan because Bhutan celebrates different types of festival every month.

Tamshing Phala Choepa, one of the famous festivals of Bhutan, is celebrated in the courtyard of Tamshing Lhakhang monastery to honor a great saint, Pema Lingpa. This festival is characterized by masked dancers, who are actually the monks, and whose dance is choreographed by the Buddhist saints, who want to convey spiritual message to the people. In the colorful costumes, these monks represent the wrathful deities, heroes, demons, and animals who whirl and leap in the sounds of the horns, drums, and cymbals, and who crack jokes and annoy the people, and who demand money from the people in the form of donation.

‘The Dance of the Stag and the Hunter’ and ‘The Dance of Three Kinds of Gings’ are the dancing that you see during Tamshing Phala Choepa, and they bring good luck and happiness to all the people, as well as they remove misfortunes from the people.
